we were super excited to hide our first hide. I put the log in a plastic baggie and put it in the cache and put THAT in another baggie to keep it dry. Its been raining a lot in NH and I wanted to make sure everything was dry. I was kind of sad yesterday when some friends (4 queens and a king) found our cache and said that the bag I wrapped the log in was gone. So while the ninjas were at karate, I went over and put another plastic bag – it wasn’t a good one, just a small thingy I had lying around the house.
I was REALLY suprised to get an email from another local caching family – Bright and Shining Stars – telling me they replaced the little bag with a better one AND put the actual cache in a smaller bag to help prevent detection. That was SO NICE of them to do, and the email was even nicer as they explained why they did it. We’re new to geocaching so we LOVE getting help like this. I like activities like this where people work together and help one another – don’t get me wrong…a little friendly competition is fun – we’re going to catch up to 4 queens and a king! lol lol. But it’s just for fun. It’s kind of like the ninjas and their karate tournaments…..they love winning – what kid doesn’t – but they’re just as happy when their ninja friends win too. And like karate where the ninjas all work to help one another – i’m liking this too – people working together to help each other – it’s nice.
Congrats on your first hide!
Ain’t Geocachers just a nice bunch of people?
All the best!
